Rusmin Alwani Shukery’s field of practice is civil and general litigation encompassing a range of claims including the law of fraud and asset recovery, company law, contract law including joint venture disputes and building contract disputes, tort, energy law (theft of electricity supply), land disputes, specific recovery of movable and immovable property, bank guarantees, indemnities and warranties. She is also involved in debt recovery assignments for various institutions including for corporate bodies and local financial institutions specifically relating to Islamic finance disputes as well as conventional loan disputes.
She has extensive trial and appellate experience and has acted in contentious cases in the Subordinate Courts, High Court, Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Malaysia for her institutional/private clients in her area of expertise during her illustrious 21 years of practice. Some of the cases conducted by her have been reported and published as authoritative cases in corporate and commercial litigation by the Malaysia Law Journal and the Current Law Journal.
From 1998 to 2005, as Senior Associate, Rusmin headed the Corporate and Banking Litigation Division of her former firm, Messrs Shahrizat, Rashid & Lee (“SRL”) in Penang. There, in SRL Penang, she led a team of lawyers providing legal services in a wide range of areas which included corporate advisory, corporate and retail banking, credit and finance, and general litigation practice with emphasis on commercial law, banking, hire purchase, leasing and land law.
Currently as a Senior Partner of Rusmin Ida & Taryna, she continues to practice in her areas of expertise and as well as indulging in the practice of general conveyancing in relation to sale of properties for property developers and individuals and the documentation of its financing.
